Almond Mylk Tonic

 

Ingredients:

1 cup natural almond mylk 

2 dates (You can also purchase almond mylk already sweetened with dates to save adding your own)

1tbsp ground turmeric 

1tsp ground cinnamon 

1/2tsp ground ginger

1/4tsp cayenne pepper

1/2 tsp black pepper

 

Method:

  • In a blender, add the dates & almond mylk. Blitz until the dates are no longer noticable.

  • Add the remaining ingredients & blitz again on low speed or whisk in with a fork.

  • Have in a shot glass daily or warm on low heat in a saucepan for a nice winters drink.

Almonds/ Almond mylk:

My favourite nut! Contains good fats, helping to lower LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), whilst increasing HDL (good cholesterol). Vitamin E, a great antioxidant, very important for skin cell integrity. Almonds are also packed with B vitamins & a considerable amount of minerals, phytochemicals & antioxidants, which can play a role in reducing inflammation.

Turmeric:

Has huuugee anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, antioxidant & cardio protective benefits. It helps with cleansing your system & helps to support liver detoxification.

Black Pepper:

Helps make Curcumin (the active constituent of turmeric) more bio-available, enhancing its absorption!

Cayenne Pepper:

For a bit of a ZING. This will get youhr digestive system flowing. It stimulates digestion & can enhance blood circulation. It contains important antioxidant qualities, which help with free radical damage & can aid in detoxification.

Ginger:

Has anti-inflammatory properties. A great cold & flu combatting tool & can increase digestion & stimulate circulation.

Cinnamon:

Loaded with polyphenols (powerful antioxidants), a great metabolism booster, has anti-inflammatory properties and can help with fungal & bacterial infections. Cinnamon can also help curb sugarf cravings & can assist to balance blood sugar levels.

Dates:

Not just a deliciously sweet snack. For a small fruit, dates contain a huge amount of beneficial vitamins & minerals. Some of these being: Thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin A & vitamin K. Some of the important minerals contained are: Calcium, potassium, magnesium & Zinc.
